About PIPN
The People in Pain Network (PPN) has been formed to help people living in pain. People in Pain Network (PIPN) is a national non-profit society that puts 100% of their focus on pain self-management education and support. Our peer-facilitated pain self-management education and wellness support groups offer free monthly meetings offering a balance between education and support.Our trained facilitators aim to provide members with the tools and knowledge to live well with pain. Our facilitators live with pain, they understand. The PIPN board consists of the following: -

Board Members
Virginia McIntyre -President, With over 25 years of experience in diagnostic imaging, she transitioned to becoming a patient partner and peer supporter in 2017. Virginia is notably the first Canadian with lived experience to be awarded the Mayday Pain and Science Fellowship. She serves on several influential committees, including the Pain Canada National Advisory Committee, the Canadian Pain Society and US Association for the Study of Pain’s PWLE Committee. As a public presenter and educator, she emphasizes the importance of pain resources and peer support Christine Mader - Vice President, is a retired pharmacist and past local community pharmacy owner. She has experience volunteering with non-profit organizations, both in healthcare and business. Mark Mander -Treasurer, is a retired Chief of Police. (And lives with MS and chronic pain)). He has experience with working on many boards and committees. He is currently a peer leader for the Annapolis Valley People in Pain Group and a peer leader with the online support group. Karly Stefko Secretary, is a graduate of Acadia University with a Bachelor of Kinesiology with Honors and is certified as Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CSEP-CEP). She currently works as a Kinesiologist through Acadia University where she is responsible for running community exercise programs around Kings County. Karly also runs her own business where she provides one-on-one in-home and virtual exercise training to those 55+. She works primarily with older adults, both healthy and those with chronic conditions, such as Cardiovascular Disease, Diabetes, Chronic Pain, and Arthritis. Directors Patrick Myers- is a psychologist in private practice in Vancouver BC. Partick is People In Pain Network's longest standing board member, with over 10 years as an active member. Shelley LeDrew- Director - is the Program Lead for the Atlantic Mentorship Network-Pain & Addiction (AMN-P&A). The initiatives, tools and resources the AMN-P&A delivers is aimed at enhancing the capacity of primary care providers to support those living with chronic pain and addictions in their practices. Gaétane d'Entremont- holds a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and has worked with people living with pain for many years. Based in King’s County NS, she resides with her husband and two young children. Outside of work, Gaétane enjoys outdoor activities and actively supports community events. |
